OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 26, 2023) – CompSource Mutual Insurance Company, the premier workers’ compensation provider in Oklahoma, recently announced its new sponsorship of and partnership with RIVERSPORT OKC’S Youth Rowing League. In celebration, CompSource Mutual hosted a boat christening ceremony to officially name the new rowing boat and commemorate the occasion.

This past Sunday, during the insurance company’s annual Fun Day event for employees and loved ones, CompSource Mutual officially christened its new, sponsored rowing boat. The eight-man racing shell, which local students will use during Youth Rowing League practices and competitions, was christened “Risky Business.” The name refers to CompSource Mutual’s commitment to evaluating employee risks and implementing safe workplace standards across the state, as well as a playful homage to the classic 80’s film.

“At CompSource Mutual, we know that Oklahoma’s most valuable asset is its people, and we are always looking for ways to make a difference and improve the lives of people in the communities we serve,” said Jason Clark, president and CEO of CompSource Mutual. “Our new sponsorship of RIVERSPORT OKC’s Youth Rowing League is just one of the ways we live out this guiding principle. We are incredibly proud to play a role in building a better, brighter future for our community’s next generation.”

RIVERSPORT OKC’s Youth Rowing League offers scholastic rowing programs for middle and high school youth. The program is offered at no cost to Title 1 schools. Established in 2009, the program allows local youth to join a team sport that promotes a healthy lifestyle, helps build self-confidence and learn discipline, dedication and teamwork. Originally, the Youth Rowing League had 30 student participants; today, the program boasts more than 180 athletes and more than a dozen participating schools.

“Our Youth Rowing League offers an incredible experience for kids who otherwise might not have the opportunity,” said Elizabeth Laurent, chief marketing officer at RIVERSPORT OKC. “It’s thanks to the generosity of community partners like CompSource that we are able to continue serving youth in our city.”
