Trucking: Proper Maintenance

The upkeep of a vehicle plays a large part in whether or not we will make it to our destination safely.

Performing preventative maintenance is imperative to ensure safety issues are identified and addressed as they occur. Not addressing maintenance issues could result in parts and equipment failing at a critical time. Be familiar with your
particular vehicles maintenance schedule.
In essence, all mechanical systems on your car can affect performance.

You should consider your vehicle from top to bottom

Lights and Signals:

Check interior lights, exterior lights and turn signals to ensure they work properly.

Windshield:

Ensure your windshield is free of chips and cracks which could result in a more significant crack or break when driving or during temperature changes. Many times preventative measures are free of cost to repair when reported through your auto insurance. Also, windshield wiper blades should be in good condition with new rubber strips that aren’t cracked or broken so that they create clear visibility when in use.

Cleaning your windows on the inside and out can also prevent buildup that may block visibility.

Mirrors:

Ensure rear-view and side mirrors are in proper condition and clean. Additionally, make sure they are adjusted to
the prime position for viewing.

Tire Care:

Tires should have good tread. Check tires for baldness or being worn in any area. Check that they are free of any
nails or objects and ensure they are at the right pressure. Tire alignment and rotation should be on a scheduled
